Sunset Cruise

Unwind from the day on an evening cruise to enjoy the quiet beauty of the River Blackwater.

Leaving the Quay, the barge heads down river past the Victorian Promenade Park; past the statue of Brithnoth guarding Maldon against marauding Vikings; Northea Island which is a bird reserve owned by the National Trust; Heybridge Basin, the entrance to the Chelmer and Blackwater Canal; Mill Beach with it’s colourful beach huts on legs and finally towards the privately owned Osea Island, now a luxury weekend retreat and wedding venue.

You can bring your own picnic if you wish, or choose one of our options which you can eat below, or choose to take your plate back on deck as we head back up river to Maldon. There is a licensed bar on board which includes local Artisan gin, wines, Prosecco, local beers and hot drinks.

Cheese and Ham Ploughmans – with our butchers cheese and ham, homemade coleslaw, salads, chutney, bread and butter
Fish Platter (serves 2) – items depend on availability, but typically include smoked crevettes, smoked salmon, mackerel pate, locally smoked mackerel, poached salmon, fresh prawns as well as other items. We provide the mixed salad above with Aoili and Granary Bread and Butter.
